RXForOhio (continued)
One
of the various programs we are referring to is RxForOhio. Most of the people who utilize our services
may be able to receive immediate discounts on certain prescription
drugs through this program. The Association has arranged for each
of your Foodbanks to receive 3,000 pamphlets for distribution to
your agencies. As people that they trust and seek help from, it
is extremely important that our agencies have information readily
available. Please distribute these pamphlets as quickly as possible
so that we can get them into the agencies and ! into the hands
of those that desperately need them.
Displays
are available to hold these pamphlets, to make them more visible
but because the cost is so high I am not able to get them for each
agency. Please contact me with a number of your
agencies that either serve the most people on a daily basis or
are aimed primarily at senior citizens, so that we can have the
displays in these key locations. If
for some reason you feel that you will be unable to mail the displays
to these agencies, please forward their contact information and
the Association will have them sent directly. If you could please have this information
to me by the end of the workday Fri,
Dec. 10 it
would be extremely helpful. Below is some key information about
RxForOhio, the program these pamphlets describe. Please
take one extra moment to read it in case your agencies have any
questions when they receive their pamphlets.
RxForOhio is a clearinghouse for patient assistance
programs offered to eligible Ohioans. This includes 140 sponsored by drug manufacturers,
plus 185 government and other programs. The pharmaceutical industry
has a long tradition of providing prescription medicines free of charge
to patients who might not otherwise have access to necessary medicines.
Generally, a patient assistance program provides prescription medicines
to patients who do not have prescription drug coverage or who are underinsured
through either private and/or government health plans. Government,
industry, and other groups have also formulated assistance plans based
on a wide variety of eligibility requirements.
Now, there is one place people can
go to determine if they qualify for these various programs. People
can visit www.rxforohio.org, a Web
site that simplifies the search for programs that provide prescription
drug assistance. Since not everyone has access to the Internet
and a computer, people can also call a toll-free number, 1-877-RX-4-OHIO (1-877-794-6446), which
also provides the same information. More than 1,400 medications and
300 patient assistance programs are included in this service.
RxForOhio is
a service brought to you by a collaboration of concerned individuals
and organizations joining
I’m sure that after reading
about this program you can understand why it’s important that
we participate in getting the word out and how it could benefit a large
number of our clients. If
you have any other questions regarding this program, please feel free
to contact me.
Thank you for your time and your immediate attention
to this matter!
Sincerely,
