GREAT STEPS TO A SPECTACULAR CAN DRIVE!

Can Drive Form

Follow these steps for a spectacular can drive!!!

1. Review this letter, fill out the Info Sheet and mail , email or fax back to Jamie ASAP. Check in with Jamie for current food needs or if you would like a theme for your can drive.

   Keep in mind these food items are ALWAYS needed: canned meat products (tuna, chicken, ham, spaghetti with meatballs, chili with meat and beans, beef stew, beans and hot dogs, etc.) peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruits. Other items needed include: canned soups, macaroni and cheese and personal care items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste/brush, feminine hygiene products, disposable diapers). Please, no glass items.

2. Announce the dates of the drive well in advance. We can provide posters for you to publicize the drive. Posters, newsletters, bulletin boards, faxes, flyers or even a press release are excellent ways to promote the can drive, but nothing motivates like top down involvement!
   
   
3. Limit the length of your drive. Single day special event drives can be very successful if well publicized. You’ll lose interest if the drive goes on too long! To help keep interest make it a competition. (The Marketing Dept. is leading the way half way through the drive,” or The 9th Grade has already filled 5 boxes.”)
   
   
4. Be willing to accept monetary donations. Not everyone has extra food at home or remembers to bring in their cans. For every $1.00 donated we are able to purchase $7.00-$9.00 worth of food. Checks should be made out to: The Freestore Foodbank, Inc. Send all checks or money orders together (no cash please) to: FS/FB, Attention: Jamie Rosskopf,
   1250 Tennessee Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229. Please mention your organization name and that these gifts are from a can drive.
   
   
5. Barrel drops and pick-ups must be scheduled between 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday-Friday (unless special arrangements have been made in advance). If you have numerous barrels, we may need to ask you to assign a central receiving location during our busiest time. If you are planning your drive for November or December, please be aware that we need extra time to process your donation due to the heavy volume we receive at that time of year. The earlier we can pick up, the better (ideally a week or two before the holidays).
   
   
6. Be Creative! Have Fun! Thank everyone who participates!
